Mr Jon Conroy - NHS Leeds out-reach clinic at Physiocure

We are pleased to welcome Mr Jon Conroy, Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon who is holding NHS Adult Hip consultations at Physiocure. This is in joint working with BMI The Duchy Hospital in Harrogate where he sees private patients. Bookings for the NHS clinic can be made by the patient's General Practitioner via the NHS e-Referral process (or for private appointments by contacting 01423 567136).

5th Yorkshire Hip Arthroscopy Meeting

Louise Grant and Tom Higo from Physiocure were invited to speak as Faculty on the 5th Yorkshire Hip Arthroscopy Meeting on 'Muscle patterning and neuromuscular issues in hip arthroscopy rehabilitation.' The meeting was well attended by Physiotherapists and GPs from the region and was hosted by Mr Jon Conroy, Mr Colin Holton and Mr Sameh Sidhom.

The Newcastle Hip Preservation Course

20th January 2016

Physiocure was invited to speak on the subject of hip arthroscopy rehabilitation by Ajay Malviya at 'The Newcastle Hip Preservation Course' today. Anna Higo spoke about the physiotherapy aspect on behalf of Louise Grant. Tom Higo (specialist hip personal trainer) presented a talk about movement patterning and common problems seen in people with FAI, and his strategies to aim to help them. The Newcastle United Team Medic, Paul Catterson tweeted “very good talk by Physiocure1 regarding rehab and movement patterning post hip surgery, clearly know what they are talking about.”

The First North East of England Hip Preservation Course

Louise has been invited to speak as Faculty on Hip Arthroscopy Rehabilitation at The First North East of England Hip Preservation Course in 2016. Further information on this event will follow.

We are delighted to welcome Karen Solomon (pilates) and Jillian Bebbington (Admin and reception) to the Physiocure team. Karen will be seeing pilates clients on a Friday and working together with our other fabulous pilates expert, Julie Reynolds who is in on a Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

International Society For Hip Arthroscopy (ISHA) Annual Scientific Meeting 2015

Louise was invited to speak at the International Society For Hip Arthroscopy (ISHA) Annual Scientific Meeting 2015 on her work with Pre-habilitation in Hip Arthroscopy. The conference was a great success and brought together physiotherapists and surgeons from all over the world who have a special interest in hip preservation.

Louise was proud to be part of the ISHA physiotherapy group organising team. The feedback we have had from physios after the event was that they thought it was 'inspirational and a real step forward for the profession'.

Expansion of the Physiocure Clinic

As from the 6th July 2015, Physiocure will be expanding in size at Cookridge Hall to provide patients with a larger, more comfortable waiting area and additional treatment rooms. We also would like to take this opportunity to thank all our patients, Physiocure staff and Cookridge Hall staff for all their support in this period of transition and change.

Hip Arthroscopy Rehab - The Psychological Perspective

On May 21st 2014, Louise Grant was invited to speak about Hip Arthroscopy Rehabilitation at the 2nd Yorkshire Hip Arthroscopy Meeting, chaired by Mr Jon Conroy.

Another speaker was Amanda Graham, Occupational Therapist, who specialises in Mental Health. Amanda has kindly typed up her talk as a pdf file for you to view.

It is titled - Hip Arthroscopy Rehabilitation - The Psychological Perspective.

Louise Grant, Hip Specialist Chartered Physiotherapist has had her clinical trial registered and ethically approved. It is called The 'HAPI' study and looks at whether exercises before hip arthroscopy improves outcomes. She is doing this in collaboration with Mr Jon Conroy and his NHS patients who are undergoing this operation, participants will have all their sessions FREE OF CHARGE* (terms and conditions apply). Louise Grant has just returned from the Sport Jujitsu World Championships where she was looking after the team's injuries and the England team won the gold medal.

Anna Nelson has been invited by British Dressage to run a specialist pilates training day for horse riders, working alongside Hannah Moody, in November 2013.

Physiotherapy and Pilates for the dressage rider

This article demonstrates the benefit of both physiotherapy and Pilates to the dressage rider in a sport where the rider's position can dramatically affect the outcome of how the horse performs.

It emphasises the demands on both horse and rider and how important it is that they work in synergy. The article highlights some important common musculoskeletal issues that dressage riders demonstrate as well as physiotherapy techniques and Pilates exercises that help in rider body awareness and correct body position in the saddle.
